Miss me? Let's review: I've been away for the past few months working with Buddy System Studios on pilot for stop-mo television show. My head is cracking at the seams trying to absorb everything I've seen and learned about making silicone puppets. And now, with Shea and Jeremy back in Portland, that leaves me as puppet doctor. Armature needs tightening? Silicone ripping up the crotch of the puppet in the middle of a karate kick? No problem. Yeah right. Learning on the job, getting tossed into the deep end to learn how to swim, just another day. By the way, Shea and Jeremy had some great stories about working on Coraline. The recounted tales of the scene where Coraline and her Mother are shopping for clothes in town made me agape in awe as well as cringe with horror. Ahh, to work with a genius like Henry, would that be a good thing or bad? Anyway, with all of the NDA's I've signed, that's all I can tell you right now about the stuff at Buddy Systems, sorta. Right now we are in the throws of our final weeks. Animation is underway, puppet fabrication is coming to an end, and 'No' this does not mean I'll get back to my routine of posting once-a-week again. Although I wish I could. Nope, as it is, on the horizon I see a tidal wave of mini projects all piling up, conspiring against my unrequited desires to sit at a computer posting random thoughts by tapping all excess energy for writing, pre-vis, fabrication, and animation. "The Clockwork Heart", my follow up fairy tale to "Grimm Addicts" is getting sound as we speak. Once the opening/end credits are locked, then the short will be complete. That probably means a website overhaul to make sure everything is up to date for you to watch. Rolling along at an even pace is the "Skittles" spec commercial. Two shots need some final touches, and the illustration for the opening credits is due as well. That's on me. And then there's the ever growing duration of my personal movie, which will most likely be pushed back another decade. However, character redesigns have begun, and I'm super-excited about them. Oh, and let's not forget about Karl. Hot Damn!. Max Trapeeze. TSPK. and Eli. All of which need to be worked on somehow. Don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about? Don't worry, neither do I. My sleep schedule is so outta whack right now, my own thoughts sound like a Ralph Steadman monologue in my head. When I start hallucinating Dr. Gonzo's illustrations without the drugs I know it's time to clock out. Everyone out there, keep up the great work with your own projects. I may not me participating, but I'm still watching.
